The wisdom of our ancestors

The wisdom of our ancestors

There is an extreme shortage of common sense in today’s world,
I often think back to what my parents and grandparents believed and said, at the time I thought they were totally out of their mind and ignored it. I now wish I would have listened and followed their advice more often.
It is in this light I have decided to publish some of my random thoughts based on the views of our ancestors

One day my housework-challenged husband
decided
to wash his sweatshirt

Seconds after he stepped into the laundry

shouted to me,

“What setting do I use on the washing
machine?”

“It depends,” I replied. “What does it
say on your shirt?”

He yelled back, “Indiana
University.”

The Comeback

The Comeback

A young couple drove several miles down a
country road,
not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an
argument, and neither wanted to concede their position.

As they passed a barnyard of mules and pigs, the
husband sarcastically asked, “Are they relatives of
yours?”

“Yes,” his wife replied. “I married into the
family.”

Woman Overboard

Overboard

An elderly couple was on a cruise and it
was really stormy.
They were standing on the back of the boat watching the moon,
when a wave came up and washed the old woman overboard.

They searched for days and couldn’t find
her, so the captain
sent the old man back to shore with the promise that he would
notify him as soon as they found something.

Three weeks went by and finally the old
man got a fax from the
boat. It read: “Sir, sorry to inform you, we found your wife dead
at the bottom of the ocean. We hauled her up to the deck and
attached to her was an oyster and in it was a pearl worth
$50,000 .. . ..please advise”

The old man faxed back: “Send me the pearl
and re-bait the trap

The Frog and the Banker

A frog goes into a bank and hops up to the
loan officer. The frog
says,
“Hi, what’s your name?”

The loan officer says, “My name is John
Paddywack, can
I help you? “

The loan officer says, “I’m not sure. Let
me go check with the bank

The frog says, “Tell him I said hi. He
knows me.”

me. but there’s this frog out here named Kermit Jagger

June Weddings

Two related wedding jokes: women will tell the first one, men  will tell the second.

A little girl asked her mother the following question: “Mom, why are wedding dresses white?”

The mother replied, “Because white is the color of joy, and she’s showing her joy to all the guests!”

The little girl pondered that for a moment, and then asked: “Then why does the groom wear black?”

– – –

A little boy asked his mother the following question: “Mom, why are wedding dresses white?”

The mother looks at her son and replies, “Son, this shows your friends and relatives that your bride is pure.”

The little boy pondered that for a moment, and then decided to double-check this with his father.

“Dad, why are wedding dresses white?”

The father looks at his son in surprise and says, “Son, all household appliances come in white.”
